Program:

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year Kindergarten experience. The program is age and developmentally appropriate with a hands-on approach to learning. The TK program is designed for the youngest Kindergarten students. This program gives the gift of time to students to grow socially, emotionally and academically.

The curriculum used in TK reflects the California State Standards for Kindergarten, but is taught at a slower pace and with greater focus on school adjustment, socialization, fine motor development and essential early learning skills. Transitional Kindergarten provides daily opportunities for students to develop social and academic confidence along with an introduction to Kindergarten content standards at a developmentally appropriate pace.

Transitional Kindergarten is not a “preschool” or “pre-Kindergarten” program. School hours are the same as regular Kindergarten classes and students participate in all regular school activities including field trips, assemblies, enrichment classes and special events.

Eligibility:

Students with summer birthdays may also be good candidates for this program and can be admitted based on parent request and space availability.
